From January to March 2019, the eighth quarter of the Smart Columbus Electrification program, 17 Acceleration Partners were onboarded for a total of 63 partners. Smart Columbus continued to gain visibility in media and through consumer education campaigns, with four million impressions between December 2018 and February 2019. Also, Columbus was named one of The New York Times’52 Places to Go in 2019,” with the Smart Circuit self-driving shuttle called out as one of the city’s top attractions.

During this quarter, AEP Ohio tallied 104 applications received for its EV charging station incentive program and in total, 60 charging ports were activated. The Columbus Convention Center added 10 superchargers and 10 Tesla Level 2 chargers to its parking garage. Thirteen new workplace charging ports were installed and five sites and six multi-unit dwelling sites were awarded funding for 22 charging ports.

Other highlights for the for the quarter include:

  • 505,978 AEP OHIO Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters installed to date
  • Six Columbus neighborhoods will engage in the Community Energy Savers program, starting with Linden
  • 40 applications secured through two rounds of the Transportation Service Provider rebate program
  • Announced that the USDOT-funded electric self- driving vehicle demonstration will service the Linden neighborhood
  • Zipcar announced the expansion of its Columbus fleet from eight to 30 vehicles
